IOP and ERD combo package 10% off- You are probably saying "What is and IOP and ERD?  IOP stands for INTRA OCCULAR PRESSURE and ERD is EARLY RENAL DISEASE. 

E.R.D. (Early Renal Disease) A simple urine test that offers early detection of kidney damage.  This test is now available at Seville Animal Hospital.  It will provide us with the overall health status of your dog or cat.

IOP (Intra Occular Pressure) - Glaucomais defined as an increase in pressure within the eye. The increased pressure is the result of a buildup of the intraocular fluid. In a healthy animal, this fluid drains out through a circular filter at the corner of the eye.  Animals with glaucoma have an abnormality in the filter which obstructs outflow, resulting in a buildup of fluid within the eye. An analogy would be a kitchen sink - if the drain is open and the water is running, the sink is operating normally. However, the drain becomes clogged for some reason and the water continues to flow, then the sink fills up with water and overflows!  

A simple instrument called the Tonopen is used to measure the pressure of your pet's eye.  This instrument is gently applied to our pet's eye providing our doctors with accurate pressure readings.  Yearly testing is recommended by our doctors so they are able to detect a pattern in your pet's pressure readings.  Early detection is the key to controlling this disease and preventing blindness in your pet.
